Bike Week 2016 Events

 

Saturday 11thJune

1.      Melvin Cycling Club - running a colouring / drawing competition along with Four Masters N.S in Kinlough where the children can boast their art skills by drawing / painting anything to do with cycling. Winners will be picked on Friday 17th June and prizes will be awarded at the kids cycling day on Sunday 19th June in Kinlough Community Centre at 9.30am.

 

 

Tuesday 14th June

2.      Melvin Cycling Club - organising a Time Trial event that is open to all cyclists, novice and advanced. Registration at the topaz filling station in Tullaghan at 7.15pm

 

Wednesday 15th June

3.      Cycling Sports Day in Leitrim Village Gaa grounds - Over 200 children from 10 schools in Leitrim will be taking part in this exciting event. Activities include: obstacle Races, slow bicycle races, run and fast bicycle race, skills bicycle races, bicycle treasure hunt, fun games and activities sessions for all children

 

4.      Scoil Mhuire Naofa National School – hosting Bike Maintenance workshop

 

5.      St. Brigid's N.S is organizing a Cycling Fun Day for the children in their school with Trail Cycling

 

Thursday 16th June

6.      Newtowngore N.S. is bringing Trail Cycling to their school to host a Nike Sports Day event. Activities include safe cycling such as balance, obstacle races, races and many more.

 

7.      Gaelscoil Liatroma is running their own event “Rothaigh agus Cothaigh”, a family cycle around Lough Key Forest Park followed by a family picnic and refreshments. Prizes will also be awarded on the day and for the Bike Safety Poster Competition

 

 

 

Friday 17th June

8.      Fatima N.S. Cycling Fun DayFatima N.S are hosting their own Cycling Sports Day with a range of different activities such as relay marathon for senior classes,  bike ability events, fun events picnic in the park and test ride Electric Bikes

 

9.       Ballinamore Boys N.S. Cycle and BBQ - children and parents of St. Patrick's N.S. will complete a 5 mile cycle from the school to Ballyduff via Golf Links road and returning to the school. A barbeque with food and beverages provided for cyclists and visitors upon return.

 

Sunday 19th June

10.  Kinlough Social Cycle - Melvin Cycling Club is having a social cycle morning that is open to everyone, anyone can come along to Kinlough Community Centre at 9.30am, the group heads of for a short spin with a coffee stop on the way also, it’s a great way to mingle at a nice relaxed pace.

 

 

11.  Melvin Cycling Club ‘Fun Cycle Day’ is open for all children to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult and bring their own helmet along with them. Activities include: obstacle course, general cycling skills, races and juice and biscuits will be provided. Prizes will be awarded for the art competition that the children were working on during the week and the winners of each class will be presented with their prize.
