On Wednesday 23rd May 4 groups of Transition year’s from Leitrim, Longford and Cavan took part in an 8K paddle down the Shannon Blueway from Acers Lake in Drumshanbo to Leitrim Village. Transition year students from St Clare Comprehensive Manorhamilton and Ballinamore Community School took part in six kayaking sessions with Charlie and the staff in Rivermania. The 'Paddles Up' Programme is a joint initiative with Sport Ireland, Canoeing Ireland and Local Sports Partnerships funded by waterways that involves getting transition years students out on our waterways in a safe way.
